21 Day Juice Fast Journey - Day 17

Day 17 took me back to Whole Foods Market smoothie bar

KALE KICK START  is a great way to start the day (kale, blueberries, grapes, banana, pineapple juice). Kale has been dubbed "the queen of greens", it is among the most highly nutritious vegetables. It is an excellent source of carotenes, vitamins C, vitamin B6, and manganese; with only 20 calories. A top choice for fasting, kale is a great detox food. Kale is filled with fiber and sulfur, both great for detoxifying your body and keeping your liver healthy.

READY SET REVIVE   is great for the afternoon pick-up (strawberry, mango, banana, apple, carrot juice)

In addition to vitamin C, strawberries are an excellent source of the trace mineral manganese, which is essential for maintaining healthy bone structure, absorbing calcium, creating enzymes that build bone and a host of other benefits, including proper functioning of your sex hormones.
Considering the growth in the 65+ population, aging issues come to mind, particularly neurological concerns. According to researchers at Harvard’s Brigham and Woman’s Hospital, in a study published in the Annals of Neurology, strawberries (and other berries) can delay cognitive impairments by up to 2.5 years. 21 Day Juice Fast Journey - Day 12

Today's menu includes veggie/fruit smoothie and veggie juice. Day 12 started with a MEGA MIXED FRUIT GREEN smoothie (spinach, kale, carrots, strawberries, pineapple, peaches, mango, cherries) and ended with CARROT BEET CUCUMBER juice.

Cherries are fat free, cholesterol free and sodium free as well as a good source of fiber, vitamin C and packed with cancer-fighting antioxidants.

Kale is one of my top choices for smoothies. Remember green inside is clean inside! Kale is among the most highly nutritious vegetables. It is an excellent source of carotenes, vitamins C and B6, and manganese.
Kale is now recognized as providing comprehensive support for the body's detoxification system; which is why it is a popular component of detox diets and fast.

Go green - spotlight on Kale

KALE is in the same family as cabbage, broccoli and collards. Depending on the time of year, kale can have different flavors. Kale is most sweet and delicious after a frost.  The fall and winter months are peak harvest times.

ACE up your immune system with the high levels of vitamin A and vitamin C in kale. Kale is delicious served in soups or sautéed.

Kale sautéed in olive oil with fresh garlic and topped with Parmesan cheese served with pasta is most delicious!

I had the great joy of meeting Dr. Nandi on the set of his medical health show. Check out the segment on veganism: http://askdrnandi.com/portfolios/veganism/
